Visual identity and art direction
PCDD is an interdisciplinary art project created and developped by the artist and photographer Anouchka Agbayissah that explores Paris through the lens of its diasporic communities. The project invites individuals to share their unique perspectives on the city, highlighting the diverse cultural, historical, and personal narratives that shape Paris as a multicultural hub.
Blending visual arts, storytelling, and participatory contributions, PCDD captures the layered identities of the city through the eyes of those who inhabit its margins and redefine its core.
Through various media formats—photography, text, video, and audio—PCDD aims to create a mosaic of experiences that reflect the richness of the diasporic presence in Paris.
The initiative fosters dialogue, representation, and inclusivity, encouraging contributors to redefine the identity of the city beyond its stereotypical image. By showcasing stories of migration, heritage, and everyday life, PCDD seeks to celebrate the contributions of diasporic communities and challenge conventional narratives of belonging in the French capital.
The Paris Capitale des Diasporas logotype is inspired by the nef, a symbol of Parisian union and solidarity. To this symbol, we chose to add the figure of the sun which, in the case of PCDD, represents the various Parisian diasporas.
The sun adorns the nef just as diasporas adorn the city of Paris, giving it its multicultural and cosmopolitan character.
The colors were mainly inspired by the core colors of the Fon tribe of Benin, from which the PCDD founder is a native.
For the typeface, we were looking for something versatile and minimalist to leave place for the creative talent that will contribute to the collective.
